Howard A. Graney Award for Student Achievement in Surgery

Each year, the surgery department in Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences’ College of Osteopathic Medicine recognizes a graduating Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine student who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance and service within the discipline of surgery, meeting an established set of criteria during medical school years 2-4.

American College of Osteopathic Surgeons — Medical Student Section

DMU’s American College of Osteopathic Surgeons — Medical Student Section is an organization of students interested in general surgery, surgery subspecialties and all other specialties concerned with surgical care of the patient. ACOS-MSS is the DMU chapter affiliated with the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. The advantages of DMU ACOS-MSS membership include monthly guest lectures by practicing surgeons/physicians, surgery workshops and opportunities to travel to the annual national meetings held by ACOS.
