Educating primary care physicians
Des Moines University prepares its physician assistant students to work in and lead a growing profession focused on helping people live healthier lives. Physician assistants are key members of health care teams in hospitals, multispecialty clinics, physician offices, long-term care residences and other settings in rural and urban areas.

Why be a physician assistant?
- Physician assistants enjoy a career with diverse practitioners and a wide variety of opportunities.
- The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts employment of physician assistants will grow 39% through 2018, due to expansion of the health care industry and emphasis on cost containment.
- The program is only 25 months, compared to other clinical programs that are at least 3 years and also require residencies after graduation.
