Our digital platforms serve as entry points for a variety of audiences interested in learning more about Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences. The DMU website is one of the strongest and most effective forms of communication to share a wide range of content, information and resources.

dmu.edu is the universityโ€™s external-facing site, while dmuclinic.org is the DMU Clinicโ€™s external-facing site. Both sites are developed and maintained by Marketing and Communications.

Pulse is the universityโ€™s intranet site and is managed by the ITS department.

The external site creates a welcoming user experience and cohesive brand image through the digital space. The marketing team makes thoughtful use of design elements โ€” including logos, colors, fonts, HTML structure and accessibility โ€” to amplify the DMU brand. DMU strives to create digital platforms that are accessible to all and follow best practices for web accessibility and optimization.

The web team has content strategy, design, page architecture and site analytics expertise. The marketing and communications team works to:

  • Ensure that all web pages representing DMU present a consistent, professional image of DMU and are accessible to those with disabilities, accurate and easy to find and navigate.
  • Provide consistent standards and content management of all DMU web pages, including regular audits of broken links and images, content accuracy and functionality. The team systematically reviews pages. If you notice an error, please contact the marketing team so that corrections and improvements can be made.
  • Review Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site and to use that information to improve the experience.

Online Tools and Services

The web team manages a variety of web-based tools designed to help DMU communicate with the world. The marketing and communications team works diligently to maintain these services and continually improve the experience of those who use them.

  • Website Content Management

    DMUโ€™s public websites โ€” including dmu.edu, dmuclinic.org and other DMU domains โ€” are powered by WordPress and other specialized content management systems to support a range of content needs.

  • Public Events Calendar

    The web team supports the universityโ€™s public-facing calendar. The calendar is self-service, with the marketing and communications team reviewing the events posted and sharing on other communications channels as appropriate.

  • Search

    DMU utilizes Googleโ€™s programmable search engine to show fast, relevant results powered by Google Search

  • University Directory

    The university directory is managed by ITS, Human Resources and the Marketing and Communications web team.

  • Interactive Campus Map

    The university's virtual maps are highly interactive. They contain campus locations, descriptions, images and video. The maps are ever-evolving, and the marketing and communications team continues to expand their functionality to tell the story about DMUโ€™s academic campus and the DMU32 Health and Business Complex.
