A podiatric resident is a licensed podiatric physician receiving advanced training in one or more aspects of the profession in a hospital- or college-based program.

During their fourth year of the program, doctor of podiatric medicine students complete clinical rotations at institutions which conduct residency programs. Students apply and interview for residency programs throughout their fourth year, with plans of beginning residency shortly following graduation.

The College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery is proud to have an outstanding record of residency placement into the finest programs in the United States. We feel that our students are successful due to their extensive fourth year clinical experiences in many of the same settings in which they will seek a residency.

For our most recent graduates in the class of 2011, 100% of our eligible students were placed into residency programs, and 82% received either their first, second or third choice program.
