Your PhD Admissions Process

We’re excited to help you begin. Follow these steps to get started on your application to the Interdisciplinary PhD in Biomedical Sciences program at Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences.

The PhD program accepts applications directly through the DMU website. Applications are reviewed and verified once they are complete.

    Application Process

    1. Review the Requirements for Admission

    Review the PhD program’s admission requirements before proceeding.

    2. Choose Your Path

    • Fill out the online application for the PhD program.
    • Or complete the dual degree application if you’re pursuing a DO/PhD or DPM/PhD.

    3. Provide Additional Application Materials

    In the application, you’ll be asked to provide:

    • GRE (code 2256), MCAT or DAT scores
    • TOEFL scores (for non-native English speakers)

    After submitting your application, please also send:

    • Official GRE, MCAT or DAT score reports
    • Three letters of recommendation
    • Transcripts from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university

    Admissions Decisions

    An interview is required for admission. Interviews are conducted virtually.

    Transfer Credits

    Students may request transfer credit after enrollment for graduate coursework completed at other regionally accredited institutions. Requests must be submitted in writing to the program director and will be reviewed by the Biomedical Sciences Coordinating Committee. Up to 18 credit hours may be approved and applied toward the required 86 credit hours.
