Daniel W. Nelson, D.O.’09

Daniel W. Nelson, D.O.’09, a major in the U.S. Army, is a surgical oncologist and assistant professor of surgery at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX. He completed his residency at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, WA, where he served as administrative chief resident and was a clinical instructor in general surgery through the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He then was stationed overseas for one year, serving as the chief of general surgery at the 121st Combat Support Hospital in Seoul, South Korea. He also completed a surgical oncology fellowship at the John Wayne Cancer Institute at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, CA. Nelson has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and has received awards at both regional and national meetings for his research.
