Joshua Pearson completed his Doctor of Education in Health Professions from A.T. Still University, where his research focused on graduate health administration student attitudes and perceptions towards health insurance coverage and universal healthcare models. He currently possesses a Master’s in Health Administration (MHA) and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) with the National Association for Healthcare Quality.
Prior to joining Des Moines University in 2022, Dr. Pearson has taught and developed coursework at the undergraduate and graduate level for several institutions in the Midwest, focusing on a range of topics including revenue cycle management, health policy and economics, patient safety, and quality/process improvement. In addition to teaching, he also serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal for Healthcare Quality (JHQ).
Dr. Pearson’s teaching philosophy is grounded in andragogy and the development of self-directed learning environments. He is passionate about helping students develop their professional identities while connecting higher education to professional practice.
