David E. Drake, D.O.’83

David E. Drake, D.O.’83, spent 10 days in January as part of a 13-member medical delegation to Gaza, organized by Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility. His assignment was to facilitate a seminar over several days for postgraduate students in mental health counseling and on self-regulation/stress management and working with families. Drake, a Des Moines family psychiatrist and clinical professor at DMU, shared his experiences in an editorial in the Des Moines Register in February. He described the stories he heard from Gazans about living under blockade and surviving three wars in less than a decade as “overwhelming.”
