Safe Zone is a voluntary, interactive workshop that teaches you how to create safe, respectful places for everyone — on campus, in clinical settings and beyond. With a focus on patient care and provider communication, this training helps you better understand the perspectives of individuals across the spectrum of sexual orientation and gender expression.
In small-group sessions, you’ll:
- Reflect on how your own experiences influence your communication style.
- Practice asking thoughtful questions and offering informed support.
- Learn how to create welcoming spaces for everyone you serve.
By participating in Safe Zone, you’ll gain tools to promote understanding, strengthen your relationships with colleagues and patients and contribute to a culture of trust and belonging at DMU.
