Ride, eat for free during DART Try Transit Week

Try Transit Week

Des Moines University students and employees enjoy the benefit of riding DART for free throughout the year by simply showing their ID badge. During “Try Transit Week” Oct. 4-10, 2015, friends and family can go gratis, too. DART Local, Express, Flex and On Call Routes will be free to ride, and events planned during Try Transit Week feature convenient, fun opportunities to get on the bus.

On Friday, October 9, riders on Route 60 (the University/Ingersoll loop that runs closest to DMU) will have the opportunity to enjoy free appetizers. DART staff will give you a free appetizer voucher as you exit the bus from 3:30–6 p.m. that day. The vouchers are redeemable at Exile Brewing in the Western Gateway, Star Bar on Ingersoll or Louie’s Wine Dive on University & 41st Street — all excellent spots to kick off the weekend.

Never boarded a bus in Des Moines? Don’t be intimidated.

“The free DART Pass that DMU provides for students and staff has been extremely useful to me in my first two years of medical school,” says Luke Desliet, D.O.’18. “I have been able to get to many places quickly and comfortably without having to worry about the hassles of traffic and parking. I also like that I am making a small contribution to reducing my environmental footprint.”
