Lin has helped coordinate numerous volunteer events, such as the Katie Miller Young Adult Cancer Conference and the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, where she organized a team of students, faculty and staff to raise money for type I diabetes research. She helps the uninsured and people of low socioeconomic status by volunteering with Homeless Camp Outreach, the Margaret Cramer Free Clinic, I’ll Make Me a World in Iowa and Creative Visions Sunday Dinners. Showing commitment to her studies, she is the recipient of both the CPMS Merit Scholarship and the American Podiatric Medical Association Educational Foundation Scholarship.

The CPMS Student of the Year award is presented annually to a third-year student. Other worthy nominees were Nicholas Powers and Lauren Wurster. Lin accepted the award at the April IPMSA Student Government Meeting.
