Beat the Monday blues

mondaybluesIt’s a Monday and after the long holiday weekend it sure feels like one. Here are a few tips that you can use to help beat those blues:

Be positive. Start the week out with a smile. On your drive in, listen to your favorite tune and sing along. It’ll be hard to not to be grinning from ear to ear after headbanging to Bohemian Rhapsody

Make someone else happy. Do something nice for someone else as soon as you get to work on Monday or even before. My favorite is picking up the tab of the car behind me at the coffee shop drive-thru.

Keep your Monday schedule light. Instead of tackling the biggest and most complicated tasks early on Monday, take some time for easier, more routine stuff. But make sure you don’t have too much time on your hands or else those blues will start to creep in.

Have fun at work. Take it upon yourself to do things that you enjoy in the office. Catch up with a co-worker or plan a workout with a friend over the lunch hour.

Have a post-work plan.  It’s a lot easier to look forward to a Monday (and get through it) when you have an event already planned for after work. Grab a drink with a friend or take the kids to the park.

Happy Monday!!
