Students in all aspects of health care can be a competitive bunch. Our education system encourages them to strive for the highest grades, the highest rank in their class, the highest score on board exams.
There’s nothing wrong about that; after all, we want smart, high-achieving people working in health care. The problem, though, is when they begin their careers…and have to work in teams with professionals with “other” titles – from physicians and physician assistants to nurses, health care administrators, pharmacists and compliance officers.
Barriers faced by professionals in different health care fields will be the topic of a free forum discussion on Tuesday, November 13, at 5 p.m. at Drake University. Hosted by the Rho Chi Society, the academic honor society in pharmacy, the event will feature a panel of students from various health care fields (D.O., PA, D.P.M., R.N. and pharmacy) as well as keynote speaker Allen Zagoren, D.O., M.P.A. Refreshments will be provided.
