Senior Health Fair update

Every year thus far the flu and pnuemonia vaccines have been available at the DMU Senior Health Fair Nov. 7.

Because our supplier, Polk County Health Department, is now out of vaccines, it is unlikely that they will be available this year, Nov. 7, at the fair. The Department has canceled all upcoming flu clinics due to the shortage. If their shipment arrives, they will offer them here. It is not expected that will happen. The University is seeking another supplier for the vaccine but at this time is uncertain whether it will be possible to offer them this year.

You can still get many other benefits at the fair. Screenings will be offered for blood glucose, blood pressure, vascular disease, skin cancer, bone density, vision and cholesterol. You can have your balance analyzed and learn about preventing a fall. Bring a list of your medications and make sure none of them interact. See demonstrations of CPR and osteopathic manual medicine. Have your lung capacity tested and get plenty of other health information.

If shots do become available, for sure, at the fair, this page will be updated.
