A doggone good time

This weekend you can attend the annual Des Moines Dog Shows, Obedience Trials & Rally for free at the Varied Industries Building on the state fairgrounds. The event runs today through Sunday and includes approx. 2000 dogs from 45 states+other countries!  It’s a really fun thing to watch if you’re a fan of man’s best friend! I love to go see so many breeds in one spot! And who knows, you could be lucky and preview some of the Westminster competitors! It’s amazing to me how well trained these dogs are, especially for obstacle or rally events. Try it out for a fun, free experience this weekend. (The building has a/c, restrooms and food vendors.)

Another doggy event coming up is the Animal Rescue League’s Dog Jog & Muttminster on Sept. 27. For $10, you and your pup can trot around Raccoon River Park, 7:15-10 a.m. It’s a great cause to support and it’ll be a fun thing to see! After the jog, Muttminster is a fun contest with competitions such as fastest fetch and others. Vendors, crafts, refreshments and more too. All pet lovers are welcome.
