The security office at Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences works to provide a safe and comfortable environment for students, employees and visitors.

Security Hours and Locations
Security is available 24/7 via phone and email at the West Des Moines campus, DMU32 and Des Moines University Clinic in the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex.

Security Escort Service
During business hours, DMU offers a security escort service for employees and students who are on university property at the West Des Moines campus, DMU32 Health and Business Complex and Des Moines University Clinic at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex.
See the steps below for security escort services outside of business hours:
- Employees and students may call the Security number and request a security escort to their vehicle with a 1-hour lead time.
- Security will provide an ETA.
- The security officer on duty or the Facilities Management employee will meet the employee or student and escort them to their vehicle.
Annual Security Reports
In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, Des Moines University publishes an annual security report and makes the report available to all current students, prospective students and employees. The report contains a description of DMU’s safety and security policy statements and procedures. In addition, the report includes statistics on crimes reported to DMU officials over the past three years, detailing incidents that occurred on DMU property or other DMU facilities. The report also includes information about ways to stay safe and report security related incidents.
