Omar Lateef, D.O.’99

Omar Lateef, D.O.’99, in October was named one of 60 health system CEO influencers “who are using their considerable influence to shape the future of health care” in 2023 by Becker’s Hospital Review. He is president and CEO of Rush University System for Health and of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

Becker’s stated that Lateef, who joined Rush in 2005, “has accelerated Rush’s journey to advance health care excellence and safety on a national scale.”

“Lateef is committed to improving patient safety, quality metrics, innovation, education, and health equity, a stance that has earned praise for the system at large, including 4- and 5-stars from CMS for Rush hospitals,” the media platform further noted. “His leadership has led to the medical center being featured on U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals Honor Roll” three times in a row. Dr. Lateef plans to continue expanding care access via digital advancements, meaningful partnerships and new locations.”
