CPMS alumnus takes office in national podiatric organization

Eric A. Barp, D.P.M.’01, FACFAS, took office as secretary-treasurer of the 7,800-member American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) on March 4, 2021, during the virtual ACFAS annual member business meeting.

“I am honored to be selected secretary-treasurer of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons,” Dr. Barp says. “ACFAS is an organization dedicated to providing education and promoting the profession. I am privileged to be part of the college and committed to advancing our specialty.”

Dr. Barp is a foot and ankle surgeon with the Iowa Clinic in Des Moines. He is board-certified in foot, reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a Fellow Member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. 

Dr. Barp completed his residency in foot and ankle surgery at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines. He lectures both nationally and internationally, and his research has been published in numerous textbooks and journals.

Founded in 1942, ACFAS is a professional society of more than 7,800 foot and ankle surgeons.
