Thomas Cavalieri, D.O.’76, MACOI, FACP

Thomas Cavalieri, D.O.’76, MACOI, FACP, in June was awarded the 2019 Santucci Award by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) in recognition of his sustained outstanding contributions to the board’s mission of protecting the public by providing the means to assess competencies for osteopathic medicine and related health care professions. First recruited by the NBOME in the late 1980s as an exam item writer, Cavalieri became board president in 2001 and board chair in 2002 when the NBOME first hired a full-time physician president and CEO. During this time, he oversaw the launch of the COMLEX-USA Level 2-Performance Evaluation. He also has led various NBOME committees. Immediate past chair of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, Cavalieri is dean of the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ.
