Melody Byram, D.O.’96, is a pediatric hospitalist at North Mississippi Medical Center (NMMC) in Tupelo. She acts as a direct liaison with NMMC’s emergency department and Batson Children’s Hospital at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, admitting patients whose conditions require closer monitoring or medical management that cannot be done at home. A registered nurse and nurse practitioner for many years before enrolling at DMU, Byram completed residency training in pediatrics at the University of Mississippi Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in 1999. She then practiced with Pioneer Health Services in Newton, Rush Health Systems in Union and East Central Mississippi Healthcare Inc. in Sebastopol. Before taking her current position, she practiced as a pediatrician and pediatric hospitalist at Anderson Regional Medical Center and Anderson Children’s Medical Clinic in Meridian, MS, since September 2012.
