Eric A. Goldsmith, D.O.’84, FACOS, in October was awarded the Charles L. Ballinger Distinguished Osteopathic Surgeon Award from the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS). This award recognizes ACOS members for their outstanding accomplishments as a surgeon, educator and/or researcher. Goldsmith balances roles as both a general and oncologic surgeon with Lee Physician Group and the medical director of academics and medical education for Lee Health in Cape Coral, FL.

Past president of ACOS, Goldsmith completed a general surgery residency at Metropolitan Hospital in Springfield, PA, and oncologic surgery training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He is board-certified in general surgery.
