Giving thought to giving thanks

Monsour

Roger Monsour, D.O.โ€™63, and his wife, Barbara Harken Monsour, put a lot of thought into their support of Des Moines University. After discussing their giving options with DMU staff, they decided to make a major gift to the DMU Fund, which supports all programs and gives University leaders the flexibility to allocate donor gifts to the greatest opportunities and needs. โ€œThat makes a big difference,โ€ says Roger, a board-certified anesthesiologist and retired medical chief of staff.

The couple was impressed by the DMU campus when they attended Rogerโ€™s 50-year reunion last May. They enjoyed reconnecting with his classmates and with the University where they began dating and were married. โ€œIf it hadnโ€™t been for this school, I wouldnโ€™t be here,โ€ Roger says. โ€œWhen I think of what the University has accomplished in the 50 years since I was there, talked with students and saw the facilities, I was amazed.โ€
