Roger Monsour, D.O.’63, and his wife, Barbara Harken Monsour, put a lot of thought into their support of Des Moines University. After discussing their giving options with DMU staff, they decided to make a major gift to the DMU Fund, which supports all programs and gives University leaders the flexibility to allocate donor gifts to the greatest opportunities and needs. “That makes a big difference,” says Roger, a board-certified anesthesiologist and retired medical chief of staff.
The couple was impressed by the DMU campus when they attended Roger’s 50-year reunion last May. They enjoyed reconnecting with his classmates and with the University where they began dating and were married. “If it hadn’t been for this school, I wouldn’t be here,” Roger says. “When I think of what the University has accomplished in the 50 years since I was there, talked with students and saw the facilities, I was amazed.”
