Alumnus honored at Ohio Osteopathic Symposium

Paul G. Martin, D.O.’75, FACOEP, of Broadview Heights, OH, was among several physicians honored at the 2013 Ohio Osteopathic Symposium May 15-19 in Columbus.

He received the Honorary Alumnus Award from the Society of Alumni and Friends of the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM).

The award is given to non-alumni who have brought honor, exemplary service and support to OU-HCOM and its community of alumni, students, faculty and staff through significant and selfless contributions to local, regional or national communities, and who have made a positive impact on Ohio University and the college while also inspiring the university community. Martin was recognized for his nearly 40 years of service in mentoring hundreds of OU-HCOM students, Centers for Osteopathic Research and Education residents, and emergency medicine service providers.

A pioneer in osteopathic emergency medicine, Martin committed himself early in his career to broad-reaching education, directing the emergency medicine clerkship for students and the osteopathic emergency medicine residency program at Richmond Heights (OH) Hospital and supervising the training of countless emergency medical technicians and paramedics. The providers trained by Martin are practicing in nearly every community served by the 911 systems in Ohio’s Lake, Geauga and Cuyahoga counties.
