Mandi was guest editor of the Clinics in Podiatric Medicine & Surgery‘s April 2012 issue on foot and ankle trauma. She authored articles in the issue on ankle fractures and pilon fractures, the latter co-authored with Justin J. Banks and Brandon W. Barrett, both fourth-year DMU podiatric medical students. Mandi joined the publication’s editorial board as well. She is the foot and ankle surgery section chief at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines.
