Gottschalk retired from the United States Air Force in October 2012, after serving as a pediatric otolaryngologist. He completed his otolaryngology residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, and his pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, AK. On November 1, 2012, Gottschalk assumed the department chief position in pediatric otolaryngology with Lee Memorial Health System in Fort Meyers, FL, where he and his wife reside with their two children.
