Furness and Sara Dixon were married on October 22, 2010. After Furness completed an internship at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI, the couple moved to Warren, OH, where Furness would begin a family practice residency program at St. Joseph Health Center. The couple welcomed their first child, William Richard, on August 16, 2012, weighing seven pounds eight ounces and measuring 21 inches long.
