Make Time for You: DMU Clinic’s “Power Your Life” Symposium Returns Jan. 23

Health and wellness event offers expert insights on nutrition, fitness and women’s health at every stage of life

Between careers, families and everyday responsibilities, finding time to focus on personal health can be a challenge. Des Moines University Clinic invites women of all ages — and anyone who supports them — to make their well-being a priority at Power Your Life: A Health and Wellness Symposium on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2027.

Returning for its third year, the symposium brings together DMU Clinic providers and local health and wellness experts for a morning of practical advice, fresh perspectives and meaningful conversations about women’s health. The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon at the Olsen Center at DMU32 Health and Business Complex, located at 3200 Grand Ave. in Des Moines. A virtual attendance option also is available.

Attendees will explore five important areas of women’s wellness:

  • Strength and Power: Build and maintain strength, mobility and physical resilience through every stage of life.
  • Nutrition: Discover how food choices support energy, muscle health and long-term wellness.
  • Sleep, Hormones and Well-Being: Learn strategies for navigating hormonal changes and improving sleep.
  • Pelvic Power: Better understand pelvic health concerns, prevention and available treatment options.
  • Breast Health: Explore the importance of prevention, screening and early detection.

The symposium features five health professionals with expertise spanning physical therapy, nutrition and women’s health:

  • Jenilee Foster, PT, DPT, MHA, a physical therapist and certified perimenopause and menopause specialist at DMU Clinic.
  • Lauren Mach, PT, DPT, CMPT, ATC, a physical therapist and certified athletic trainer at DMU Clinic.
  • Rachel Preisser, MD, a board-certified, fellowship-trained breast imaging radiologist and founder of GRACE Breast Imaging and Medical Spa.

  • Jenny Weber, RD, LD, a registered dietitian nutritionist specializing in nutrition, athletic performance and women’s health.

Conversations around navigating changing health needs, finding ways to improve daily habits and simply seeking reliable guidance will give participants actionable ideas to help them feel their best.
