DMU Clinic — Behavioral Health Welcomes Julie Rice, LMHC 

Julie Rice, LMHC, joined Des Moines University Clinic — Behavioral Health as a licensed therapist. She will provide individual and group therapy to clients ages 18 and up. Her experience includes helping people in outpatient mental health settings, using a range of approaches to teach coping skills and support change — such as talk therapy, problem-solving strategies, and techniques to manage thoughts, behaviors and emotions.  

“Julie is an experienced therapist with a strong background in individual and group psychotherapy and will help us reach more patients in our clinic and community,” says Autumn Brunia, DO, a psychiatrist, faculty member and alumna of Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences. “She will be a great addition to our team supporting psychotherapy education, giving trainees and rotating students meaningful interprofessional learning experiences.”  

Rice earned her Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling at Drake University and holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Iowa State University. She previously practiced at 515 Therapy and Consulting and Broadlawns Medical Center.
