Difficult conversations often feel uncomfortable โ but theyโre essential for progress
Angela L. Walker Franklin, Ph.D., president and CEO of Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences, has been selected to speak at the University of Northern Iowaโs TEDx event โCreating Tomorrow.โ The event will take place Oct. 25 at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Franklin is one of 16 speakers to share โideas worth spreadingโ at the event. Her talk, โCalling Out the Elephant in the Room to Trigger Meaningful Dialogue,โ shares how curiosity and empathy can transform polarization into collaboration. Using the metaphor of the โelephant in the room,โ sheโll explore how fostering open dialogue creates spaces for diverse perspectives and leads to innovative solutions and stronger communities.
