After nearly 13 years of innovative leadership at DMU, Carolyn Weaver, M.B.A., is retiring from her role as chief information officer. Since joining DMU in 2012, Weaver has guided the university’s information strategy through tremendous growth and transformation, including the design and implementation of the advanced tech structure that powers DMU’s new campus in West Des Moines.
Weaver’s career spans over 25 years in IT leadership across higher education, medical education and corporate settings. Immediately before joining DMU, she served as director of information solutions at the Morehouse School of Medicine.
At DMU, she led efforts in information security, educational technology and IT governance. In 2024, she was named one of the Top 50 Women Leaders of Iowa by The Women We Admire.
“Carolyn has been an extraordinary leader and partner,” says President and CEO Angela L. Walker Franklin, Ph.D. “She helped us dream bold dreams and then built the systems to make those dreams possible. Her expertise has shaped the university for future generations of health care providers.”
Weaver holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Kenyon College and an M.B.A. from the University of Iowa.
