Oct. 14 event to continue the discussion on mental health

When the Des Moines Register announced it would present, on the DMU campus, a discussion with Iowa’s candidates for governor on gaps in Iowa’s mental health system, it didn’t take long for all the tickets to be claimed. That’s a clear sign Iowans have a great interest and likely strong opinions on the topic.

Also sponsored by the Iowa Hospital Association, the event will occur this Sunday, Oct. 14, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Governor Kim Reynolds, Democratic candidate Fred Hubbell and Libertarian candidate Jake Porter will appear on stage individually to speak on the topics of mental health and substance abuse. The discussion will be moderated by Register opinion editor Kathie Obradovich.

While all the seats have been reserved, the event will be livestreamed on DesMoinesRegister.com so that anyone with an Internet connection can watch it.
