Enhance medical skills with moulage training

“Moulage” is the art of using makeup and other materials to produce mock injuries and stage disaster scenarios for the purpose of training emergency response teams, medical and military personnel and medical students. It’s also the topic of an All Hazards Medical-Trauma Moulage Workshop on the DMU campus Aug. 22-23, 2018, presented by Bobbie Jo Merica and Moulage Concepts.

Moulage was used to represent injuries at DMU’s first-ever major simulation event on March 31. The DMU College of Osteopathic Medicine Student Government Association sponsored this disaster drill scenario of a mass-casualty chemical explosion.

This interactive workshop is designed to enhance realism in simulation scenarios while providing best practice techniques at all learner levels. Intended audiences include educators, trainers, police, firefighters, first responders, public health emergency preparedness personnel, hazards/safety managers, health care providers and simulation educators. Participants will learn to create realistic training, which is critical to effective responses and successful outcomes.

Cost of the two-day workshop is $550, which includes a trial kit. More information and registration are available online, or call 530-877-2628.
