Cliff took this photograph during a 28-mile backpacking trip in the Wenaha Wilderness of Oregon, his home state. “The trail we took was full of beautiful forage, and this was just one of the many pretty flowers we saw along the way,” he says.

Cliff took this photograph in Death Valley National Park. “I think that everyone in the health care profession understands and can relate to how it feels to be as ‘busy as a bee,’” he jokes.
Cliff caught this bull elk on camera in Wyoming’s Yellowstone National Park. “Bull elk drop their horns every year, and as they start to grow them out again, they have the velvet texture seen on this bull,” he says. “So, as another season comes and goes, so do the horns on each individual bull elk.”
