The Mobile Clinic gets a makeover

DMU faculty, staff and students got a peek at the newly wrapped Mobile Health Clinic at an open house reception highlighting the community resource.

Coined the “Purple People Treater” by Dr. Polk, a DMU Mobile Clinic Advisory Committee member, the Clinic’s new look allows it to double as a billboard on wheels. When it’s in route to hosting health screenings, first aid stations and other campus and community partner outreach events, its also promoting the University.

“The event was a chance to show off the Clinic, but also to get everyone on campus excited about upcoming opportunities and the possibilities the Clinic presents,” says Brianne Sanchez, Community Relations manager. “We’re always looking for volunteer drivers and clinicians who can oversee students eager to make a difference in the community.”

A new partnership with the American Red Cross serving Greater Iowa means this August, Des Moines University will bring the Mobile Health Clinic to the Iowa State Fair. DMU is partnering with the Red Cross to utilize the clinic as an additional first aid station on the west side of the fairgrounds.

P.S. The Red Cross is still seeking State Fair volunteers. You can get certified and help out!
