The Des Moines University Office of Research hosted Dr. John Robertson for a second grant writing workshop on June 20, 2014.  Attended by DMU faculty and staff, Write Winning Grant Proposals aimed to help both basic scientists and clinical investigators convey their ideas convincingly to increase the favorable review and funding of proposals.  In addressing the practical and conceptual aspects that are important to the proposal-writing process, the workshop offered concrete insight and strategies for success.

As one workshop attendee noted, “[I] appreciate the specific suggestions for language in grant writing and how to best describe your project in grant terms.”  Emphasis was given to idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies that are of proven value in presenting an applicant’s case to reviewers.

If you have questions about your grant, the grant process or wish to review materials from the program, please contact Mollie Lyon, Grants and Contract Manager for the Office of Research, at mollie.lyon@dmu.edu or 515-271-1657. We wish you the best of luck in your future grant writing endeavors!
