The World Food Prize (WFP) is the foremost international award recognizing the achievements of individuals who have advanced human development by improving the quality, quantity or availability of food in the world. This weekend, the organization will launch a smorgasbord of opportunities to learn about the history of feeding our planet as well as innovative solutions to fight hunger.
During the grand opening of the WFP’s educational exhibits at its Hall of Laureates in Des Moines, visitors of all ages can explore these topics with interactive touch screens, videos and stunning photography from around the world, including Howard Buffett’s “40 Chances” international photography exhibit. This event also is a great opportunity to tour WFP’s gorgeous home in the beautifully restored and renovated former Des Moines Public Library at 100 Locust Street.
Free and open to the public, this grand opening is an event that’s sure to enlighten and delight everyone. Feed your brain this Saturday, Feb. 15, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., or Sunday, Feb. 16, noon-4 p.m.
