Health care leaders to hold ‘A Healthy Discussion’ at DMU

Des Moines University and the Partnership for Better Health are again hosting a series of forums tackling critical health topics. The series, titled “A Healthy Discussion,” returns to discuss the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in Iowa.

Iowa’s health care and insurance leaders will discuss the impact of new health laws and the future of health care in the state. The forums will be held on the DMU campus in the Medical Education Center, 3200 Grand Avenue, on the following dates:

  • Thursday, October 24, noon – Nick Gerhart, insurance commissioner of Iowa, and Jennifer Vermeer, director of Iowa Medicaid
  • Monday, November 11, noon – Frank Stork, vice president and senior counsel, regulatory and government affairs, Wellmark; Dale Mackel, market president, Coventry Health Care; and Cliff Gold, founding director and COO, CoOpportunity Health

A third discussion is being planned for the end of November with speakers to be determined. All forums are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Jordan Bahnsen.
