Sixth annual Run DMU promises scenic route through downtown

Race down Grand Avenue and around the sculptures in Western Gateway Park in Run DMU, Des Moines Universityโ€™s annual 5K. The race kicks off on Friday, September 20, at 6 p.m. in front of the University.

With a new, improved race route, Run DMU provides a scenic run by the Pappajohn Sculpture Park before returning to campus. Post-race osteopathic manual medicine (OMM) treatments, physical therapy screens, foot screenings and first aid are available to participants at the finish line along with great food and prizes.

โ€œWeโ€™re excited Run DMU has grown over the last five years and now serves ans an event fundraiser for the University,โ€ said Ronnette Vondrak, DMU alumni director. โ€œPlus, the race directly aligns with our commitment to promoting health and wellness in the community.โ€

Registration is $25 through September 19 and $30 on the day of the race. Youth 12 and under are $15. Teams of 10 or more receive a group rate. Runners, walkers, strollers and pets are welcome. Registration includes a race shirt, bib and sport tag. Awards will be given for each age category and overall winners.
