What To Expect During the Interview Process
At Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences, we offer a candidate experience that helps you feel confident in your decision to pursue your goals with us.
The resources here will aid in familiarizing yourself with DMU and our interview process.
An Experience Developed With You in Mind
Our goal is to enable you to be your authentic self, sharing your unique perspectives and plans with us. Our interview approach includes two components:
- An asynchronous online interview that gives you simple access to share your experiences with us.
- An interactive interview event where you will learn more about our program. This opportunity can be completed on campus or virtually. Be sure to submit the form on your DMU Admissions Account indicating the format you prefer.
Here are some additional details regarding the two components of your formal interview experience. Please keep in mind, professional attire is expected and you should be prepared to present yourself professionally throughout both components of the interview experience.

Component 1:
Asynchronous Online InterviewThis simple process through Kira Talent should take 20-30 minutes to complete on your own time. You will be asked a question and given prep time and a set amount of time to respond.
Refer to your candidate experience invitation email for more information and your personalized login link. Please remember to check spam/junk if you did not receive the Kira invitation email within a week of submitting your participant agreement, government ID and format preference form.

Component 2:
Interactive Event with Program LeadersAfter completing your interview via Kira Talent, you will receive additional information on how to schedule the second component of your interview. Whether you choose to complete this on campus or virtually, interactive events are held on select Tuesdays throughout the fall. Rather than participating in a traditional interview, you will have the opportunity to engage with DMU’s community and learn more about the PA program.
- On-Campus Option: Includes a program overview and Q&A with program faculty, lunch with student ambassadors and a tour of campus.
- Virtual Option: Conducted via Zoom and includes a program overview, breakout rooms with faculty and a student panel.
Please keep in mind that the asynchronous online interview and interactive event with program leaders are both elements of the overall admission decision and should be treated as such. Your file will be sent to the admissions committee for review following completion of both components.
Allow four to six weeks for a final decision, which will be either admit, alternate or release from consideration. More information regarding these statuses will be provided in your decision letter.
