What To Expect During the Interview Process
At Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences, we offer a candidate experience that helps you feel confident in your decision to pursue your goals with us.
The resources here will aid in familiarizing yourself with DMU and our interview process.
An Experience Developed With You in Mind
Our goal is to enable you to be your authentic self, sharing your unique perspectives and plans with us. Our interview approach includes two components:
- A virtual dean’s overview featuring a presentation about the program and a live Q&A with current students.
- A live virtual interview with a DMU faculty member.
See below for additional details regarding the two components of your formal interview experience. Please keep in mind, professional attire is expected and you should be prepared to present yourself professionally throughout both components of the interview experience.

Component 1:
Virtual Dean’s Program OverviewOverview sessions are held via Zoom on select Mondays and include a program presentation followed by a student panel where you can hear directly from current students and ask questions. These sessions typically take place on a different day than your interview.

Component 2:
Live Virtual InterviewInterviews are conducted through the Kira Talent platform on select Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. In your 30-minute conversation with a DMU faculty member, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your personal and professional goals and gain deeper insight into the program.
Please keep in mind that the interactive overview event and interview are both elements of the overall admission decision and should be treated as such. Your file will be sent to the admissions committee for review following completion of your interview.
Allow approximately four to six weeks for a final decision, which will be either admit, alternate or release from consideration. More information regarding these statuses will be provided in your decision letter.
