Things to Know
-
Can I Send Updates?
Yes! Updates help the admission committee identify candidates who are strongly considering Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences. Information about academics, shadowing and other relevant personal experiences are great things to share. Please send your updates to DMUAdmit@dmu.edu and indicate the program for which you are an alternate candidate.
It is also highly beneficial for us to have your latest contact information, so we can get in touch as needed.
-
When Can I Expect To Hear Back?
We understand waiting during this period can be challenging, especially as you finalize plans for attending graduate school or relocating. Rest assured that DMU will contact you as soon as we have information to share. As seats become available, we will extend offers to current alternates. You can expect to receive a final admission decision in the week following orientation.
-
What Can I Do To Increase My Chances of Being Accepted?
Keep us updated on your activities and let us know if DMU is your top choice. When we have multiple candidates for a seat, we may prioritize those who have clearly expressed their interest. You can demonstrate this by providing regular updates or submitting a letter of intent.
-
Should I Reapply When the Cycle Reopens? Will This Hurt My Chances of Being Accepted From the Alternate List?
We encourage you to make plans for your education, including reapplying in a future cycle if necessary. Current alternates will remain under consideration until the end of this application cycle. Your status as a reapplicant will not affect your competitiveness as an alternate.
