| Job description | Medical Associates Clinic, located in Dubuque, Iowa, is seeking an NP or PA to join our well-established, thriving multidisciplinary practice in the General Surgery department.
Position Overview:
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides comprehensive outpatient clinic care in a general surgery clinic, collaborating with surgeons and the care team to manage patients across the continuum of care. Responsibilities include conducting pre- and post-operative visits for general surgery and GI procedures, evaluating and managing surgical patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and providing patient education. The NP/PA supports efficient clinic operations, ensures continuity of care, and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in an ambulatory setting.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct outpatient evaluations, including pre- and post-operative visits for general surgery and GI procedures.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage surgical patients; order and interpret diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans.
- Collaborate with general surgeons and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
- Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, post-operative care, recovery expectations, and follow-up.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and support clinic workflows, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
Work Schedule: Full-time (salaried) with 85% patient contact hours with a schedule of 4.5-5 day workweek.
