Special Application Program
Application Deadline: March 15 2008 Special Application ProcessesQualified applicants may be eligible to apply for early acceptance or early enrollment (3+4) options. Applications for both these options are available on the web site. There is a non-refundable $50 application fee. Early Acceptance OptionThe early acceptance option allows high academic-achieving students to apply, interview, and be conditionally accepted to the college while still completing undergraduate studies. It is designed for undergraduate sophomores and juniors who plan to earn a bachelor’s degree prior to matriculation. Applicants seeking early acceptance can apply as early as January 1 of the sophomore year of undergraduate studies but no later than March 15 of the junior year. Early Enrollment (3+4)Early enrollment (3+4) is an option for highly motivated, exceptional students who would like to begin medical school following their junior year of undergraduate studies but prior to earning a bachelor’s degree. The undergraduate institution must agree to award a bachelor’s degree upon completion of the first year of the D.O. curriculum. All application materials must be received by March 15, 2008 In addition to the requirements for Early Acceptance, candidates must also complete prerequisite courses. The courses must be completed before matriculation to DMU. All science prerequisites require 8 semester hours with laboratories.
Other recommended courses include Histology, Microbiology, Genetics, Immunology, and Anatomy. Conditions of AcceptanceYou can apply and be accepted into this program as early as your sophomore year in college. If accepted, admission to the College of Osteopathic Medicine is conditional upon maintaining strong academic performance and completing the following necessary requirements.
