How To Apply
Begin by applying online through the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine Application Service (AACPMAS) at www.e-aacpmas.org.
MCAT
All candidates for admission to CPMS are required to complete the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) prior to enrollment. Applicants who plan to complete the MCAT in the winter or spring are strongly encouraged to submit an application prior to taking the test so that admission evaluation is not delayed. The Dean and/or Admissions Committee may review this requirement with exceptional circumstances.
Letters of Recommendation
Arrange with your pre-professional advisory committee to have an evaluation sent directly to the CPMS Admission Office. No other letters are required, and you should not hesitate to have references sent ahead of your application. Materials will be kept on file for you.
If you do not have a pre-professional advisory committee, you may substitute two letters of reference; one from a health professions advisor or one from a professor (science preferred) and a podiatric physician whom you have shadowed. These letters should be on the writer's letterhead and should be sent directly to the CPMS Admission Office.
When to apply
We have a rolling admission policy at the college of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. We begin accepting applications through the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM) at the beginning of September. Applicants are encouraged to apply early in the cycle. We schedule interviews beginning in late September and continue through May.
Please note: First-time entering students may apply to only one Des Moines University clinical program at a time (includes DO, DPM, PA, and DPT). Multiple applications will not be accepted or processed.
Interviews
All completed applications are reviewed for a possible interview. An on-campus interview is required for admission. Only those applicants who are being strongly considered for admission will be invited for an interview. The College does not interview applicants for screening purposes. All interviews are held on Fridays, with the day beginning at 8:00 a.m. and concluding at 2:00 p.m.
