Office of Research
DMU's growing research enterprise
Our vision is to be a cultivator of distinctive scholars who collaboratively generate, apply, and integrates new knowledge.
We promote research and education excellence by facilitating collaborative relationships, providing resources, and opportunities for the creation, application, integration, and dissemination of knowledge across disciplines.
Our faculty and student scholars work closely together on a wide variety of research projects to provide solutions to some of the world’s most pressing health problems. These researchers are attracting an increasing number of extramural grants, including from the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, National Institute of Justice, major foundations, and corporations.
Student research: Supporting your success
Students at DMU have had scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals, traveled the country to present their abstracts, and won prestigious national awards, fellowships, and scholarships. Our annual Research Symposium gives students the opportunity to present the results of their research projects.
Core facilities and equipment: Unlimited possibilities
DMU provides our researchers the resources and support they need to excel in their research endeavors. The University supports a wide range of shared resources and core facilities designed to advance basic and applied research conducted by faculty, staff, and students and that provides educational and training opportunities for students.

“The pandemic reminded me of where I come from. It added to my motivation to become a physician. It’s made me think about ways I could incorporate research as a physician. It’s really a motivating factor.”
