Kudos for DMU Day at the Iowa State Fair

Students demonstrated osteopathic manual medicine treatments on fair-goers.

Rain fell on the Iowa State Fair on Sunday, Aug. 11, but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of fair-goers for DMU Day at the event. They enjoyed the 94 osteopathic manual medicine and physical therapy demonstrations performed by 49 student volunteers, seven faculty members and two other volunteers. They also raved about the University’s tent on the Grand Concourse.

“DMU’s entire presence was hands-down one of the best I’ve seen. Their branding was on point, their students were engaged and passionate and their swag was fantastic,” posted one fan on the University’s Facebook page.

That swag included temporary tattoos, cold packs, first aid kits, bandanas and bendable pens depicting a stethoscoped health care provider. DMU Day at the Fair provides great visibility for the University and its programs, as the Iowa State Fair is the largest event in the state and typically attracts more than one million people per year. More than 108,000 people attended on this past Sunday alone.
