DMU’s M.P.H. program receives CEPH reaccreditation

ceph_mast2DMU is proud that its master’s degree program in public health (M.P.H.) provides outstanding education that prepares public health leaders. That pride was recently affirmed by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). On June 18, CEPH reaccredited DMU’s M.P.H. program for a seven-year term, the longest offered by the council.

Accreditation represents the high standards of the DMU M.P.H. program with respect to the University’s mission, degree program curricula, faculty research and service, and student outcomes. The M.P.H. program at DMU was one of the first M.P.H. programs to receive accreditation for a fully online master of public health degree.

“This reaccreditation decision reflects the continued work by the faculty, staff, administrators and community partners in our mission to provide an excellent, competency-based, interdisciplinary education that prepares public health leaders who preserve and promote health in our global community,” says Rachel Reimer, M.S., Ph.D., associate professor, chair of the department of public health and director of the M.P.H. program in DMU’s College of Health Sciences.

All of department’s faculty and staff as well as DMU senior administrators worked to support the program’s application for reaccreditation and participated in the site visit that occurred last October. Community representatives and students also met with site visitors to provide their perspectives.

“This accomplishment would not be possible without the full support of all these valuable partners,” Reimer says. “It is important that as we continue our hard work to serve our students and community, we take time to celebrate our accomplishments. This is an important milestone for the M.P.H. program at DMU. I am incredibly proud to be a part of this program, and I want to thank everyone who supported us as we worked toward this goal.”
