Mentored student research program

Since May, many students have been busy in laboratories around campus working with faculty members to learn research techniques and data collecting skills they can showcase in the Mentored Student Research Closing Program. The students can choose to present either a poster or verbal presentation. This year the program included 50 students, Des Moines University graduate students and also undergraduate students from universities around the state. The bulk of the work occurs between the last week in May until the closing program, held on July 22 this year.Mentored Student Research Program

During Vice President for Research, Dr. Jeff Gray’s welcome address at the closing program he stated, “This year we’ve had an ideal group of students.” The students were very eager to learn about their mentor’s project and participate in the activities held during the summer. They jumped right into the project and produced many quality presentations to be displayed for the campus community.
