DMU’s campus buildings are LEED-certified at the silver level by the U.S. Green Building Council, meaning they have achieved high levels of energy efficiency, carbon- and cost savings, sustainability, and environmental quality. The campus also is WELL Certified™ at the gold level per the seven concepts of the International WELL Building Institute:

  • Optimal indoor air quality
  • Optimal water quality and accessibility
  • Promotion of healthy eating habits (nourishment) through select food choices, behavioral cues, and information about nutrient quality
  • Lighting that minimizes disruption to the body’s circadian rhythm while improving learning, energy, mood, and productivity
  • Building design technologies and strategies that encourage physical activity (fitness) within one’s daily schedules
  • Indoor environments that are distraction-free, productive, and soothing (comfort)
  • Spaces that support mental and emotional health (mind) through design elements, relaxation spaces, and state-of-the-art technology
