While these numbers may be surprising, it may be more unsettling to learn that physicians have higher rates of suicide than the general population. In fact, some estimates attribute as many as 400 physician deaths to suicide each year. Though the statistics may seem overwhelming, there are resources that can alleviate stress and prevent more serious symptoms from developing.
